I feel like the show has finally hit its stride after the second season, and I feel that this is because the conflict between Regina and the Charmings has died down. The show was too cluttered with the Regina conflict plus an outside villain. The outside villain either had to be tamer than Regina, or it would preempt her conflict. At the same time, Neal, while a useful plot device, was a character that I found distracting and out of place. Michael Raymond James is a great actor, but I feel that he was miscast in this particular project, and the past of Baelfire was too glossed over to really develop emotional sympathy for the character.
On a better note, I think that the acting has drastically improved since season one. Much of this probably has to do with the fact that the writing is improving, and the cast know more about their characters. However, I will say that for someone who started out not particularly enjoying Lana Parrilla’s work, I think she’s the best actor on the show right now. So I’m actually watching again. Thoughts?
Is anyone getting a little sick of victim Huck?
